What is Streaming Media?
In case you are not sure exactly what streaming video is, we
will explain. There is basically two ways to have a
video on a website. There can be a full file that
needs to be downloaded in its entirety, which can take
several minutes to download, and there is streaming.
Most people don't want to wait that long to view a video.
That's where streaming video works very well.
Streaming means exactly that. When it is in this
format it actually streams to the user, meaning that they
don't have to wait for the whole video to download. It
will feed the video as it is playing. It starts to
play almost immediately when someone chooses to watch the
video. This keeps your website visitors' interest
because it starts to play almost immediately. This
comes in handy when, for instance, trying to sell a product
to a potential customer or showing a home movie to
relatives. This real video format allows large files
to be compressed and stored on a website so as to not take
up too much space.
It's fairly
straightforward. The first thing you do is send us
your video. It can be in VHS, 8mm, or electronic.
We then take your video and convert it into whatever format
you like. After that we can either email it back to
you, send it to your website, or mail it to you on a CD.
However, in order for you to stream it on a website we
recommend you choose the Real Audio format. Again,
Real Audio is the most widely accepted format on the
internet and also compresses to very small sizes to store on
your website.
